Murphy for Governor Clears Threshold for Public Matching Funds

Newark — The Murphy for Governor campaign announced that it has surpassed the $430,000 contribution threshold for participation in the state’s Gubernatorial Matching Funds Program.

Since the beginning of the General Election cycle on June 7, the campaign has raised approximately $750,000.

“This is a strong start to our general election effort and the continuation of our campaign to bring real progressive change that ends eight years of failure under Chris Christie and Kim Guadagno and moves New Jersey forward,” said Brendan Gill, campaign manager. “With the broad support we have received, we are confident that we will have all the resources necessary to make sure all voters learn about Phil’s positive, forward-thinking vision for New Jersey.”

Murphy for Governor intends to formally file to participate in the matching funds program when the state Election Law Enforcement Commission meets on July 11. Acceptance would allow contributions to be matched two-to-one by state matching funds. By participating in the matching funds program, Murphy for Governor is limited to spending $13.8 million total in the General Election and may receive up to a maximum of $9.3 million in state matching funds.

During the Primary Election cycle, Murphy for Governor raised in excess of $5.5 million from more than 8,000 individual donors.
